August 13, 2021

in a mood to whip up a special meal for your dog? Our jambalaya would not disappoint!

Today we are going to make the heartiest meal for your doggo and you! A classic jambalaya rice dish.

  1. 1 tablespoon canola oil
  2. 1 chicken breast (cubbed)
  3. 1 bell pepper (yellow or orange) seeded and diced
  4. 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  5. ½ can plain tomato sauce
  6. ½ cup short-grain brown rice
  7. 1 ¾  cups water

  1. Heat the olive oil in a medium Dutch oven or soup pot over medium heat. When hot, add the diced chicken and cook for 5 to 6 minutes or until lightly browned.
  2. Add the bell peppers and cook for 3 minutes or until they are just tender.
  3. Add the parsley and stir in the tomatoes
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Once at a simmer, stir in the brown rice and cook for 1 minute, and then add the water. (It will look very soupy. Don't worry, that’s normal)
  6. Bring to a boil, then immediately lower to a simmer. Cover with a lid and cook for 50 to 55 minutes or until the rice is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  7. Let cool completely
  8. Feed to doggo
